TToT79: On The Road

Did you know my phone had a hot spot? I didn't! Number One Thankful! I just linked my FTSF post to Kristi's from.the.car. How 'bout that?

We've escaped the traffuck that is Interstate 95 south of DC and are on our way south at a fairly steady clip now.

We are listening to my CD of Judy Collins singing Leonard Cohen covers. Oh, the sisters of mercy...

Leo's on a kick of announcing things he likes. For instance, seemingly out of the blue this week, he announced, "I like chocolate chips and lawnmowers." And later, "And yogurt pretzels."

Later he liked sunglasses. And then he told me that Hippo liked sunglasses. And sure enough, Hippo was wearing them.

So, in that theme, I will finish with seven more things I like:

4. I like my sister.
5. I like my sister's family,
6. I like children who nap in the car.
7. I like having an iPad on car trips.
8. I like that, by packing snacks, I've nullified the need to stop. HaHA!
9. I like clean hotel bathrooms.
10. And, in a case you're following, I like my peonies!

  1. Peonies are one of my favorite flowers. I do have some, but they really don't do well in my very shady yard. This year I have them dug up and in a pot while I clean out the very badly overgrown bed they were in so I probably won't see any flowers on them.

    1. I know! It's taken me years to get these blooms because I kept adjusting their locations.

  4. Oh, yes, peonies. You know, those long car trips with were something I missed when the kids grew up and we no longer took vacations together. I even missed the bickering and the "did, too"/did, not" conversations. Yay for clean bathrooms and getting out of the trafFUCK around DC. Enjoy your weekend.

    1. I probably will miss the bickering someday. Right now I could do without it.

  6. My friends daughter is about to turn three and she says very plainly I like ...or I don't like that. I think more people should just be more point blank like that.

I hate traffic too. But yay for getting out of it!

I bow down to you. Linking up via phone!!! WOW!!

  8. roadtrips! (those I like)… excaping traffic very fun (where the hell do the cars go? In particular, the backup-because-of-an-accident-or-construction…all that time and then…nothing? (I'm thinking old Hanna-Barbera cartoons… all the cars get re-cycled back to the start of the backup… like when Yogi is running from the Ranger, in the background as they run tree-rock-bush….tree-rock-bush…)

    1. Big like 'em--I agree. I kinda have my own rules for roadtripping and get annoyed by others' preference interceding.

  10. You know I love a road trip, once we're out of traffic, of course. :)

Conversation my mom had with our youngest, after 20 minutes of the youngster talking non-stop:

Nana, you don't talk very much.
Well, you talk so much I don't have a chance to say anything.
    (pause)
Yeah, I like it that way.

Leo is way better at the liking thing.

    Have fun!

  11. I learned that trick about smartphone Hotspots awhile back and was delighted! I love traveling with my iPad or tablet too, so portable, since I am so very addicted to FB and blogging. Papa Bear is usually driving, so the time passes more quickly this way. I love Leo's list approach to life, and I love road trips too! And oh... that peony is amazing both in color and size. I remember my Mother's and how wonderful they smelled!
